There's no direct high-speed line to Beaune
Beaune's own station is served by TGV only through a connection — via Dijon coming from the north, or via Lyon coming from the south. The town sits, as the geography suggests, roughly midway between the two, which makes either direction a workable approach depending on where a trip starts.
From Paris: TGV to Dijon, then a short regional hop
The fastest route from Paris runs a TGV to Dijon in around an hour and forty minutes, followed by a regional TER train that covers the remaining stretch to Beaune in about twenty minutes — call it two hours door to door, plus whatever connection time the timetable leaves. A slower direct train exists too, running closer to three and a half hours, for travellers who would rather skip the change.
From Lyon: a shorter run, with more variation
Lyon sits closer, and the fastest TGV services cover the distance in under an hour and a half. Journey times vary more than the Paris route because not every train is a direct fast service — worth checking the specific departure rather than assuming the fastest published time applies to every train of the day.
Booking a morning tour means an early start from elsewhere
With the tour's roughly eight-and-a-half-hour running time and a documented 5:45pm return, a comfortable arrival plan means either staying in Beaune the night before or catching one of the earliest trains from Dijon, Lyon or Paris on the day itself. Beaune is a small town with a genuine wine-tourism industry, and staying overnight is the more relaxed option if the schedule allows it.
Once you're there, the meeting point is walkable
The tour's meeting point, the Beaune Tourist Office on Boulevard Perpeuil, sits within easy walking distance of the town's train station and its compact historic centre — no local transport booking needed on top of the train journey itself. Arriving the afternoon or evening before, with time to see the old town, is the least stressful way to make sure a delayed connection doesn't put the wine tasting at risk.
